1.RESPECT

FJCCentral.com is a place where it's okay to be yourself - be that harried, jovial, silly or sad - as long as you always act with respect for your fellow members. We promise that at FJCCentral.com you won't have to leave your personality at the door. We promise to bring passion to our time here and appreciation for our members. We will listen to your suggestions and complaints, and try to incorporate your ideas in everything we do.

2. DON'T BE AFRAID TO POST

If you're new to our community, or forums in general, taking the first step to join and post your first thread can be intimidating. Don't be afraid to jump into a discussion and introduce yourself. We have a very diverse community that serves up heavy doses of support, encouragement and enthusiasm. We love meeting new people and making new friends.

3. FEEL FREE TO "LURK" AND LISTEN

While we hope that you'll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you're welcome, of course, to simply hang out silently until you feel more comfortable before posting a message.

4. TAP INTO AN INCREDIBLE FOUNTAIN OF INFORMATION

Whether you're looking for answers to an engine concern, buying a new set of tires or ready to install a new lift kit, our members are here to help. Tell others about your experiences and they will tell you about theirs! FJCCentral.com is your place to get the answers you need and talk about the thing that interests you most; the FJ Cruiser. We also have the most comprehensive Tech Library on the net.

5. WELCOME NEWCOMERS

When newcomers arrive, take the time to say "Hi" and welcome them to our growing community. Many of our community's "old timers" (regardless of age) are a wealth of knowledge and have much to share. Helping new folks "learn the ropes" is what this community is about; how to find information, resources, save others time (and money!), and be fully involved with our growing membership.

6. AGREE TO DISAGREE, RESPECTFULLY!

We invite and encourage a healthy exchange of opinions; and from time to time, disagreements are expected and okay. If you disagree with another member's post or opinion, by all means, challenge the opinion, RESPECTFULLY! A sense of respect and caring for the other person, must be considered.

The real objective of community is to understand each other, not to attack or tear down each other just to convince them that you're right. Name-calling, insults, "flaming" and personal attacks are not appropriate and will not be tolerated. Agree to disagree respectfully.

7. DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER

Because this is so important, we'll say it again: Don't attack others. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully ... without insult and personal attack. Those who cannot adhere to this rule will face loss of their privilages on the forum.

Discussions regarding religion, politics or subjects of a sexual nature are not permitted under any circumstances and will be deleted without warning. People have very strong views on these subjects and there are other forums where those views can be discussed. This forum is not one of those places.

Discussion of illegal activities such as software and / or music piracy or other intellectual property violations are not allowed. Harassing, offensive, vulgar, abusive, hateful, or bashing communications -- especially those aimed at sexual orientation, gender, race, color, religious views, national origin, or disability -- will not be permitted.

BEFORE you post a message that is intended to embarrass, humiliate or harass another person or group of people, stop and THINK first! Harassing communications are defined as those that may cause another person or group of people distress, embarrassment, unwanted attention or other discomfort. It will not be tolerated!

8. DISCUSSING TOPICS WITH "SUPPORTING" VENDORS

Oftentimes "Supporting Vendors” or their staff will post messages and replies on our message board. We encourage our "Supporting Vendors” to be a part of our community like any other member. (See "Non-supporting Vendors")

From time-to-time, members have problems or issues with "supporting" vendors pertaining to product performance claims, shipping schedules, pricing, returning phone calls, etc. It is important for all members (and "supporting" vendors) to understand that discussing opposing views, beyond a point of logical and sound business principles, offers nothing beneficial for either side.

Angry arguments, harmful accusations or damaging comments will not be permitted. Neither party benefits when this happens! If you must discuss personal matters (that are of no interest to other members) with a "supporting" vendor, please communicate in private by phone, email or PM.

We remind ALL members to accept that "supporting" vendors may be biased toward their own products when discussing product comparisons. In turn, we remind "supporting" vendors that members may have different viewpoints or opinions about those products.

Both "Supporting Vendors” and registered members have the rights and freedom to express these viewpoints and opinions in the public areas of our forum as long as discussions are constructive, beneficial to other members and carried out in a thoughtful and professional business-like manner.

9. NON-SUPPORTING VENDORS

Non-supporting vendors are welcome to participate on the FJCCentral.com forum and use its many features with full privileges. However, we must ask that all non-supporting vendors (including agents, dealers, staff, etc.) not advertise or promote any companies, products or services in any way. The use of text, logos, images, links or any other means to advertise, promote or obtain potential business while participating on the forum will not be allowed.

This includes, but is not limited to, all messages, profile signatures or any other communicative features available on FJCCentral.com. A list of our "Supporting Vendors" is available by clicking the link named "Supporting Vendors" which can be found at the top of the main page. (For contact information and advertising rates, please follow the "Become a Vendor" link located at the top of the main page.)

10. WARNINGS / BANS

Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Such matters shall remain private between the Administration/Moderation Team and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through e-mail or private messaging. Likewise, discussions regarding moderator actions are not permitted on the forum.

11. MEMBERS OF OTHER FORUMS

Leaders and members of other boards are also welcome to participate on FJCCentral.com and use its many features with full privileges. However, as with non-supporting vendors, we also request that you not advertise or promote your board or any other forum in any way.

12. KEEP YOUR POSTS, AVATARS AND SIGNATURES CLEAN

The Main Forums of FJCCentral.com are a place for PG material where explicit, obscene or vulgar language, pictures or movies or any other graphic files are NOT appropriate or permitted. Thread titles, posts, avatars, and signatures in all forums that contain anything that is not considered PG material will not be tolerated and will be removed or deleted without notice! The enforcement and definition of PG is solely the responsibility of the Administrators and Moderators. (see the "Way Off-Trail" forum section below for exceptions)

13. WAY OFF-TRAIL FORUM

The "Way Off-Trail" forum is a "members only" forum which cannot be viewed by anyone except for a member who has logged-in with his or her User Name and Password. "Way Off-Trail" was created to allow members to layback and relax within the guidelines of proper respect to fellow members, to enjoy themselves in a semi-private environment. The rules for "Way Off-Trail" in reference to language "within" threads are lifted.
The rules for "Way Off-Trail" in reference to PG-13 type pictures (images) are that only tasteful are to be displayed. No "action" pictures or raunchy/disgusting pictures are allowed.

The topics, language and pictures in "Way Off-Trail" may be considered offensive to some people. We therefore have this "Warning" posted here advising of this possibility. It is important for all members to understand the possibility that opening any posted message or reply in the "Way Off-Trail" forum may display potentially offensive and/or embarrassing images. Therefore, FJCCentral.com highly suggests that the "Way Off-Trail" forum not be viewed in public, at work, around family members or children!

14. AVATARS AND SIGNATURES

Although the avatar image resolution limit is still 200 X 200 pixels, the file size limit is now 8k max, and if you could optimize your avatars even further, it would be extremely helpful for overall site speed. With proper optimization... a 30k avatar can easily become an 8k avatar without any noticeable loss of quality to the human eye.

The enforced signature size limit is a maximum of approximately 600 pixels wide X 240 pixels high in total area. Generally, this limitation is the TOTAL size for ALL text and images in a multi-image signature. In addition to the maximum image, you are allowed two lines of text. Anything over 2 lines of text requires that you subtract 15 pixels per each line of text. Also please consider using the smaller font for any text within your signatures.

Finally, please be advised that since your Avatars and Signatures are displayed throughout FJCCentral.com, they should not contain offensive or distasteful language or more than PG rated images.

Animated avatars are now allowed. They must follow the same rules as static avatars. Avatars that may be confused with official staff avatars are not allowed.

15. POSTING / TROLLING / SPAMMING

If you are going to post non-English posts on the forums, please also post an English translation of your post. Please remember this is a public forum. Anything posted here becomes the property of FJCCentral.com. If something you post requires removal, please e-mail the site Administrator or a moderator via Personal Messaging.

Trolling is prohibited. Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.

Spamming is prohibited and all such posts are subject to being deleted.

No posting of personal information. Please respect the privacy of other forum members and do not give out information such as phone numbers and addresses in the public view.

16. YOUR ACCOUNT PRIVILAGES

Each member that joins is only permitted one account. Do not impersonate other individuals or falsely represent yourself. Do not post on behalf of a banned member. Multiple accounts are not allowed and all users must have a functional email address in their account at all times. Users who create multiple accounts will have all their accounts revoked. We are attempting to create a community everyone can enjoy without complication or confusion. The site Administrator maintains the only secondary account which is used to troubleshoot coding issues on the forum.

17. REPORTING POSTS

All complaints / issues must be filed through the "report post" mechanism. Complaints about particular posts via emails or PMs to a particular moderator (including the admin) will not be addressed.

When reporting a post please give a detailed explanation of which rule(s) the post violates. If the post does not violate a particular rule...

If you have a moral complaint about the content of the post (that is not already covered by the rules) you can:

1) Post your alternate viewpoint.

2) Ignore the post (and stop reading the replies) - if you don't care passionately enough about this issue to say so in public, then just let it go.

If you feel that the forum needs a new rule to deal with this situation, contact the admin directly. Forums, even this one, are constantly evolving and we may have overlooked something important when outlining the rules.

18. USE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Please use English when posting on the forums as a courtesy to other members unless the forum channel is specifically created for discussions in another language.

19. FINALLY, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT

FJCCentral.com reserves the right to move, remove any post/thread that does not relate to the topic being discussed or is considered inappropriate on the forum. In addition, FJCCentral.com reserves the right to organize forums, threads or posts (or folders) in order to best serve the majority of our members.

For example, narrow-interest or minimal activity topics may, at FJCCentral.com’s discretion, be relocated to a more appropriate forum, merged or deleted entirely. FJCCentral.com also reserves the right to prohibit or delete messages that are thought to violate applicable law or that may be considered harmful to other members, the rights and reputation of FJCCentral.com notwithstanding.
